Houston police officers have arrested a twenty-three-year-old man following a violent assault in a downtown parking garage. The crime took place last week in a facility on Travis Street. Investigators say the suspect choked a woman until she lost consciousness before stealing her vehicle.

The victim managed to fight back and safely escape the scene. Police located and arrested the suspect near Main Street on Monday. He now faces heavy felony charges for aggravated robbery and attempted sexual assault.

A major fire broke out inside a hotel room in Houston's Third Ward early Monday morning. Emergency crews rushed to the scene on Truxillo Street just after midnight. Firefighters arrived within four minutes and quickly contained the flames, which saved the building from further destruction.

Even with the fast response, twenty units suffered smoke and fire damage. Two guests were injured and rushed to a local hospital. One man remains in critical condition while a woman is stable.

Customers fled a local laundromat on Sunday night after a vehicle fire spread to the building. The Houston Fire Department responded to the blaze around eight in the evening on West Tidwell Road.

Fire officials state that the fire began in an empty parked car outside before moving into the washeteria. Thick smoke and heavy flames forced everyone inside to evacuate immediately. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, and paramedics released the driver at the scene.

Harris County sheriff deputies arrested a twenty-two-year-old man who allegedly stole an SUV with three children inside. The incident began early Monday morning at a gas station on Aldine Mail Route.

The mother tracked her child's phone and gave live updates to dispatchers. Humble police officers spotted the vehicle and chased the suspect down. All three young children were safely recovered by law enforcement. The suspect now faces charges of aggravated kidnapping and unauthorized vehicle use.

A local man was arrested after being sought for months in an animal cruelty case. Constables from Harris County Precinct One took the twenty-one-year-old suspect into custody.

Investigators state the charge comes from an incident where an eleven-month-old German Shepherd mix was found trapped in a car trunk. A good Samaritan heard the dog whimpering inside a container left in a Channelview field. The puppy was rescued and cared for by the Houston SPCA.

Voodoo Doughnut has closed two Houston locations, leaving one store in the Houston area. The chain is known for colorful doughnuts and more than 50 flavors, and it still operates in several other states.

The company did not provide a statement before publication, according to The U.S. Sun. The report pointed to broader pressure in the restaurant world, including higher food costs and changing dining habits. For Houston, it is another reminder that even familiar national brands have to fight for local staying power.

Primark is expanding its U.S. footprint with a new Willowbrook Mall store planned for July 16. The Independent reported that the Houston-area shop will be joined by another new store in Indianapolis later in the month. Both locations are expected to be about 30,000 square feet.

The retailer sells clothing, accessories, beauty items, and home goods at budget-friendly prices. The Willowbrook opening adds to Primark’s Texas growth and gives the mall another big-name tenant as shopping centers keep reshaping old department store spaces.
