HOUSTON RODEO ART SELLS FOR RECORD $525K AT STUDENT AUCTION

🏆 Houston Rodeo art made big news this year as Pasadena ISD student Joshua Washington sold his grand champion piece for a record $525,000. His painting, Between Boots and Moccasins, showed two people from different backgrounds and set a new high mark at the student art auction.

NATIONAL ARCHIVES FREEDOM PLANE TOUR BRINGING FOUNDING DOCUMENTS TO HOUSTON

📜 Some of the most important documents in American history are coming to Houston this spring. The National Archives will bring nine historic records to the Houston Museum of Natural Science from May 8 to May 25 as part of a national tour marking the 250th anniversary of the United States.

Visitors will be able to see an 1823 copy of the Declaration of Independence, the Treaty of Paris that ended the American Revolution, and early oaths of allegiance from leaders like George Washington. TEXANS PROMOTE JOE VERNON TO SENIOR VP OF FOOTBALL OPERATIONS

🏈 The Houston Texans have promoted Joe Vernon to senior vice president of football operations. Vernon works closely with general manager Nick Caserio and plays a key role in the team’s front office.

Vernon joined the Texans in 2023 as a special advisor to football operations before earning the promotion. The former attorney and law professor also completed the NFL League of Leaders program at Stanford’s Graduate School of Business last year. His path from law and academics to the NFL front office shows how many different backgrounds help shape today’s teams.

SPB HOSPITALITY SELLS LOGAN’S IN MAJOR HOUSTON SHIFT

🥩 Houston-based SPB Hospitality has sold Logan’s Roadhouse in a big change for the company. The buyer is SSCP Management, which owns brands like Cicis Pizza, Corner Bakery, and Roy’s. SPB said the move will help it focus more on its upscale and chef-driven restaurant brands.

That next chapter includes J. Alexander’s, Stoney River, and the Garces Collection. Logan’s was once one of SPB’s main brands, so this sale marks a clear shift in direction. It is a reminder that even large companies keep changing as they chase new growth.

HOUSTON TENNIS SWEEPS COLORADO TO END THREE MATCH SKID

🎾 Houston tennis is back on track after a strong 4 to 0 win over No. 51 Colorado on Sunday. The No. 36 Cougars had lost three straight, but they fought back in doubles and carried that energy into singles play at home.
