HOUSTON’S NEWS
HOUSTON COLD CASE: ARREST MADE AFTER 36 YEARS
👮 Nearly 36 years after a young couple was killed in West Houston, police say they have made an arrest in the long-unsolved “Lovers Lane” case. Floyd William Parrott, 64, was arrested in Nebraska and charged with capital murder in the 1990 deaths of Garland “Andy” Atkinson and Cheryl Henry.
Investigators say DNA evidence helped connect Parrott to the case after years of dead ends. Officials called the arrest a moment of progress and hope for the families, as law enforcement never gave up searching for answers.
Thank you to law enforcement for continuing to investigate this.
HOUSTON TSA DELAYS: MAYOR SAYS FIX IS COMING
🛩️ Houston travelers faced long TSA lines at Bush Airport Thursday, with waits stretching past four hours during the federal shutdown. Mayor John Whitmire said the issue should be resolved quickly as pressure builds to fix staffing shortages.
Federal leaders are working to address TSA pay, and additional help is coming from other agencies, including ICE, to support screening operations. With major events increasing travel, officials say these steps aim to ease delays and restore normal wait times as soon as possible.
HOUSTON’S OWN WOODY’S BRANDS EXPANDS ACROSS TEXAS
🍹 Houston-based Woody’s Brands is growing fast, with new spots opening across Texas. A Little Woodrow’s just opened in Frisco, bringing games, drinks, and a lively sports vibe. It is now the chain’s 24th location and will serve as an after-party spot for local baseball fans.
Closer to home, a new Woody’s Hideaway is planned for Webster later this year. The space will feature games, karaoke, and a full kitchen. For locals, it is a sign that a homegrown Houston brand is continuing to grow and bring new places to gather and have fun.

HOUSTON COUGARS FALL TO ILLINOIS IN SWEET 16
🏀 Houston’s March run came to a tough end Thursday night. The Cougars fell 65 - 55 to Illinois in the Sweet 16 after a cold shooting night and a long second-half scoring drought. Houston stayed close early, but Illinois pulled away with a big run after halftime.
Emanuel Sharp led Houston with 17 points in his final college game. The loss ends another strong season for the Cougars, who finished 30 and 7 and came up two wins short of the Final Four.
Thanks to Coogs Basketball for an exciting run this year. Let’s go all the way next year!
ASTROS OPEN 2026 WITH 3 - 0 LOSS AT HOME
⚾ Opening Day brought fresh hope, but the Astros looked stuck in an old problem. Houston managed just three hits in a 3 - 0 loss to the Angels, wasting scoring chances and going hitless with runners in scoring position. It was a flat start for an offense that was supposed to look sharper this season.
Hunter Brown kept Houston in it with nine strikeouts, but a high pitch count ended his day early. The Astros now turn the page quickly, hoping this was just one rough afternoon and not a sign of more of the same.
I’m optimistic that the Astros will get those bats moving. Great effort by Hunter Brown with his 9 strikeouts!
THANKS!
🎉 Finish strong today. Clear what is on your plate and leave nothing half-done. That is how you build real momentum going into next week.
