Attention: Free Advertising Opportunity for Local Businesses!

You may have noticed that we have been testing advertising. I’ve been using my bookkeeping business as the guinea pig and visits to its website have significantly increased.

We will be selecting a few local small business advertisers to receive a considerable amount of free advertising in multiple issues of one to four of our local newsletters (Houston, Conroe, Pearland, Sugar Land).

The free advertising will be a combination of story-style ads with a photo and internet links, and digital banner-type ads with a couple supporting sentences about your business and internet links. If you have a local small business, let’s have a conversation. You can email us at [email protected].

We are specifically looking for the following types of local small businesses:

  • Personal Injury Attorney

  • Insurance Agent / Agency

  • Junk Removal

  • HVAC

  • Landscaping

  • Financial Advisory or Wealth Management

  • Real Estate Agency

  • Dental Group

  • Primary Care Group

HOUSTON’S NEWS

City Financial Outlook Reaches Stable Status

S&P Global Ratings has officially revised the general obligation debt rating outlook for Houston from negative to stable. Financial analysts affirmed the city's AA rating based on proactive budget stabilization efforts for fiscal year 2027.

This positive shift follows substantial progress by city leadership to narrow the budget gap caused by rising public safety expenses. The updated forecast highlights a restored budget stabilization fund that was heavily drawn down after Hurricane Beryl. S&P expects the expanding local economy to help secure city reserves moving forward.

Houstonians Gather Emergency Relief Material

Local relief organizers are collecting massive donations to support international earthquake victims following disasters near Caracas. Multiple drop-off sites are open across the metro area to accept clothing and blankets.

You can drop off items at the Pa Que La Negra food truck located on Highway 6 North in Houston. Volunteers are also collecting bottled water, shelf-stable food, and hygiene products through the upcoming weekend. All collected supplies will be packed and shipped directly to affected families by Monday.

Health Department Reports Spore Count Data

The Houston Health Department has published its daily pollen and mold spore report for the area. Technicians utilized the specialized Burkard Spore Trap to measure ambient air samples outside the laboratory. The latest metrics reveal zero grass and tree pollen floating through the local air space.

However, weed pollen like sedge and plantain registered minor activity throughout the morning hours. Local mold spores showed higher concentrations with notable levels of ascospores and basidiospores. Residents with severe seasonal allergies can use this data to plan daily outdoor excursions safely.

METRO AREA NEWS

Constable Arrests Local Mausoleum Burglary Suspect

Precinct Five Constable Terry Allbritton announced the successful arrest of a local burglary suspect on Wednesday evening. Law enforcement officers took the thirty-seven-year-old Conroe woman into custody directly at her home. Investigators used security camera footage to identify the suspect stealing valuable keepsakes from a west Houston funeral home.

She faces felony charges for burglary and graveyard theft after removing historic items from inside two mausoleum niches. Montgomery County authorities are also holding the individual for additional questioning regarding separate open property cases.

The Woodlands Hosts Global Swim Lesson

The Woodlands Township officially hosted the annual World's Largest Swimming Lesson at five public pools on Thursday. Regular swimming students gathered at Alden Bridge, Shadowbend, and Lakeside pools to participate in the global water safety event.

Local coordinators used the program to teach life-saving skills and lower drowning risks for children. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention lists drowning as a top accidental injury danger for young toddlers. Families can register for remaining summer sessions through the official township aquatics page.
