Houston police have arrested and charged a suspect following a fatal stabbing that occurred on Calhoun Road. Officers took twenty-three-year-old Ariyanna Cooper into custody after finding a man with severe wounds at an apartment complex on June 5. Paramedics transported the victim to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Investigators formally filed murder charges against Cooper on Monday after interviewing her about her role in the incident. Law enforcement officials safely processed the suspect into the local criminal district court.

Bloomberg Philanthropies has awarded seventeen million dollars to help expand skilled trades career pathways across the Houston region. This massive national initiative connects high school students directly to specialized coursework, paid on-the-job training, and registered apprenticeships. Houston Community College will spearhead the program locally alongside regional public school districts and the Greater Houston Partnership. The historic investment aims to open new pipelines for young residents looking to enter high-demand fields like electrical work, plumbing, welding, and carpentry.

Chef Mary Bass won first place and the coveted title at the annual Wine and Food Week in The Woodlands. The popular culinary festival wrapped up with its signature grand tasting showcase where Bass impressed the expert judges panel with her signature jumbo gulf mojo shrimp dish. Thousands of local food enthusiasts gathered during the week-long suburban event to sample creations from nearly ninety regional restaurants and explore hundreds of international wines. Bass took home a five thousand dollar cash prize for her big victory.

Dave and Buster's officially announced the grand opening date for its newest entertainment destination located in Sugar Land. The massive facility spans over thirty thousand square feet and will host a special ribbon-cutting event to welcome the local community. To celebrate the expansion, the venue plans to give away free daily video game passes to the first one hundred guests who arrive at the doors. The space features private social suites, a large new dining menu, and a giant forty-foot media wall.

Houston-based Vortex Companies announced it has acquired Municipal Pipe Tool Company LLC, a sewer maintenance and rehabilitation services provider based in Hudson, Iowa. Vortex said the deal strengthens its trenchless infrastructure work across Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, North Dakota and South Dakota.

Municipal Pipe Tool was founded in 1967 and works with municipalities and industrial clients. Its existing operations team will remain in place. Vortex said the acquisition builds on a long relationship between the companies through CIPP Corp., one of Vortex’s owned businesses.

Sempra Infrastructure announced that Bhavesh “Bob” Patel has been named incoming chief executive officer. Patel will take the role after the closing of a KKR-led consortium’s previously announced acquisition of a majority ownership interest in the company.

Patel previously served as president of Standard Industries and as CEO of LyondellBasell. Current CEO Justin Bird will remain through the close of the acquisition, then continue as executive vice president at Sempra and serve on the Sempra Infrastructure board. Sempra Infrastructure is headquartered in Houston.
