HOUSTON ROAD PROJECTS DRIVERS SHOULD KNOW ABOUT IN 2026
🚙 Anyone who drives around Houston knows the cones and lane shifts are everywhere right now. Transportation leaders say several big freeway projects are moving forward, and some of them will take years before drivers see the final results.
Here are a few of the projects now underway or in planning:
Interstate 45 expansion between Texas City Wye and the Galveston Causeway
Replacement of the Ship Channel Bridge
Elevating Interstate 10 near White Oak Bayou to reduce flooding
Grand Parkway Segment B between League City and Alvin
The long-term rebuild of Interstate 45 through central Houston
Until then, commuters should plan for slowdowns and closures as the work continues across the region.
MD ANDERSON LAUNCHES NEW CLINIC AS COLON CANCER RISES IN YOUNGER ADULTS
🧑⚕️ Colon cancer is showing up more often in younger adults, and doctors in Houston are paying close attention. MD Anderson Cancer Center has opened a new clinic designed to care for patients under 50 who are facing the disease.
The goal is to make treatment easier to navigate by bringing specialists and support services together in one place. Doctors say early detection matters, and talking with a doctor about symptoms can make a real difference.
RICE BUSINESS RANKED NO. 1 IN TEXAS IN NEW GLOBAL MBA RANKINGS
📖 Rice University is getting some well-earned recognition. The Rice Business graduate school was ranked the No. 1 business school in Texas in the latest Financial Times rankings. It also placed No. 16 in the United States and No. 38 in the world.

THE WILLIAMS TOWER

THE WILLIAMS TOWER IN HOUSTON, TEXAS
The Claim To Fame
Williams Tower has been part of the Houston skyline since 1983. The 64-story building stands about 902 feet tall and remains the tallest building in Houston outside of downtown. When it first opened, it was the tallest skyscraper west of the Mississippi River.
Why It Defines Houston
The tower helped turn Post Oak Boulevard into the center of Uptown. At night, a bright beacon shines from the top and can be seen miles away, which has made the building one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks.
Best Way To Enjoy It
A great place to take it in is Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park right next door. From there you can see the full height of the tower and the way it rises above the trees and surrounding buildings.
Pro Tip
Look closely at the top of the building. The corners form shapes that look like cats with long tails running down the sides, a design detail many people never notice.
