HOUSTON’S NEWS
HOUSTON RODEO TRAIL RIDERS RIDE INTO TOWN FRIDAY
🐴 One of the coolest parts of rodeo season happens before the gates even open. This week, thousands of trail riders will make their way into Houston the old-fashioned way on horseback and in wagons. It is a Texas tradition that always turns heads.
Riders are expected to arrive at Memorial Park on Friday, Feb. 27, with many between noon and late afternoon, before camping overnight. The celebration continues the next morning with the Downtown Rodeo Parade at 10 a.m. If you want to see it up close, areas around Memorial Drive and Memorial Loop are some of the best spots.
HOUSTON RODEO FAMILY WEDNESDAYS ARE BACK WITH FREE ENTRY
🎡 If you are planning a trip to the Houston Rodeo, a couple of days stand out. Family Wednesdays give kids and seniors a chance to walk right onto the rodeo grounds without paying admission.
This year those days fall on March 4 and March 18 at NRG Park. Children 12 & under and adults 60 and older get in free until noon. Families can also find ride deals, food discounts, and plenty to do in The Junction, including pig races, rides, and a petting zoo.
HOUSTON DEVELOPMENT BOOM. 11 NEW PROJECTS TO WATCH
🏗️ All around Houston, cranes are going up and new projects are taking shape. Developers are working on millions of square feet of retail and mixed-use space as the region keeps growing.
Some of the projects getting attention include:
Park Eight Place near Chinatown, a large mixed-use project in the works
A major update planned for GreenStreet in downtown Houston
Ashford Yard bringing restaurants and outdoor space to west Houston
The Swift project in the Heights adding shops and restaurants near the trail
Texas Heritage Marketplace in Katy with major retailers on the way
It is another reminder of how fast the Houston area continues to grow and change.
HOUSTON TEXANS UNVEIL MASSIVE NEW TRAINING COMPLEX PLAN
🏈 The Houston Texans are planning a major move in northwest Harris County. This week the team revealed early renderings for a new headquarters and training facility planned for the Bridgeland area.
The project would cover 83 acres and include the Texans training complex, football fields, and an indoor fieldhouse. Plans for the surrounding area also include a hotel, restaurants, and other development. Construction is expected to begin in the next few months, with the full project targeted for completion in 2029.
THE CRAVING
FAT BAO
3419 KIRBY DR, HOUSTON, TX 77098

FAT BAO ON KIRBY DRIVE
I stopped by Fat Bao on Kirby Drive and it was a great reminder of why people keep talking about this spot. The Fish Bao was the highlight. The tempura fish had that perfect light crunch, and the pickled apples gave it a fresh pop that made the whole thing feel balanced. The jalapeno mayo brought a little heat and pulled everything together.
The Pork Katsu Rice Bowl was very solid too. The pork belly had a nice crisp on one side but stayed tender inside, which is exactly what you want. Add in the avocado, the Asian slaw, and the sauces and it turned into a really satisfying bowl. Plenty of flavor and a good portion size. Overall Score: 8.4/10
