Houston police have arrested Daniel Arnulfo Ceron, 22, in connection with the death of Amarra Persia Conway, 33. Officers said Conway was found at 8950 Country Creek Drive on May 25 at about 8:15 a.m.

Ceron is charged with murder in the 262nd Criminal District Court, according to HPD’s update. The department released the arrest notice on June 11. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

METRO is expanding rail and bus service across Houston for the FIFA World Cup, with extra service running from June 7 through July 11. Riders can expect METRORail to run later, Red Line trains every six minutes during peak periods, and Green and Purple Line trains every 12 minutes.

Park & Ride service will also run seven days a week with longer hours, while the 500 Downtown Direct route connects both airports to downtown. METRO says fares will stay the same during the tournament.

Houston police say Jakorian Mouton, 19, has been arrested in connection with a Dec. 14, 2024 shooting at 10126 Jensen Drive that killed two people and wounded four others.

HPD said Mouton is charged with capital murder and tampering with evidence in the 497th Criminal District Court and is in the Jefferson County Jail. The victims were identified as A’Ziria Bankhead, 14, and Randle King, 16. Four other female victims were hospitalized with gunshot wounds. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Missouri City will partner with METRO to move the Hunters Glen Park Trail project ahead after City Council approved an interlocal agreement. The project would rebuild the trail as an all-weather, ADA-accessible paved path for walkers, cyclists and people using wheelchairs.

The city received $1.1 million from the Transportation Policy Council, with METRO serving as grant recipient to help speed the process. The trail connects to the 98 Briargate route and reaches neighborhoods, schools, parks, the library and City Hall.

League City leaders backed the FM 270 widening project with a unanimous City Council vote. The project would widen the stretch from FM 518 to FM 646 from two lanes to a four-lane divided roadway.

Plans also include drainage work, access management, sidewalks, shared-use paths and bicycle improvements. Council also approved moving forward with a TxDOT agreement for traffic and drainage improvements at Walker Street and Hwy. 96. It is a practical mobility update for a fast-growing part of the Bay Area.

Houston restaurants near the Fan Festival are trying to prepare for a summer unlike anything they’ve seen. Huynh, near St. Emanuel, expects more foot traffic even though it is not a sports bar.

La Calle Tacos and La Diabla Retro-Bar have hired about 20 extra employees and added menu support. Barbacana has asked extra workers to stay ready and added specials inspired by countries playing in Houston. The big question is simple: how much will World Cup crowds actually spend nearby?

Koffeteria says road closures and nearby construction have made it harder for regulars and World Cup visitors to reach the EaDo cafe. The shop, located at 1110 Hutchins St., posted a video showing quiet streets as Fan Fest started nearby.

Chron reported the business has been boxed in by I-45 work and festival setup, with parking reduced and barricades near Lamar and Hutchins. The cafe is an official festival partner, so the early access trouble is especially frustrating.
