HOUSTON’S NEWS

MAJOR BURGLARY RING SHUT DOWN BY HOUSTON POLICE

👮‍♂️ Houston police say a large burglary ring that hit homes across the area has been disrupted after a series of arrests. Investigators say 20 people are now in custody and about $4 million in stolen items has been recovered. The group is believed to be tied to more than 60 break-ins, including several in West University Place.

Police say Chilean national Patricio Munoz and his wife, Tania Barra, were helping fund and direct many of the crimes. Investigators also say the suspects used illegal signal jamming devices that can interfere with alarms and security cameras. The case is still moving forward as authorities sort through the evidence.

Thank you to the Houston Police!

HOUSTON MORNING ANCHOR BACK ON AIR AFTER SURGERY

🎤 For years, Houston viewers have started their mornings with FOX 26 anchor Melissa Wilson. What many people did not know is that she had been quietly dealing with breathing problems linked to old airbag injuries.

Earlier this month, Wilson had surgery to fix the issue. She says the difference already feels night and day, with easier breathing and better sleep. She has now returned to the anchor desk, easing back into her routine while she continues to recover.

UH HISPANIC ALUMNI NETWORK HOSTS SCHOLARSHIP FUNDRAISING SHOW

💃 The University of Houston Hispanic Alumni Network held its annual fashion show earlier this month, turning a fun night on the runway into real help for students. The event included fashion, vendors, and a silent auction, all aimed at raising scholarship money.

Organizers say the show has grown a lot since it began and continues to bring people together. Students, alumni, and designers all took part, showing how a community event can also open doors for the next generation at UH.

LISTING OF THE WEEK

HOUSTON LISTING UNDER $200K IN KATY ISD AREA

1910 BLINDLAKE DR, HOUSTON, TX 77084

LISTED BY MELVIN RUIZ OF LEVITATE REAL ESTATE

1910 BLINDLAKE DR, HOUSTON, TX 77084

Key Details

A new listing in Houston is turning heads for one simple reason. The price. The home at 1910 Blindlake Drive is listed at $199,900 in the Westlake neighborhood. It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and 1,558 square feet of space. The house sits on a 5,400 square foot lot and includes a two-car attached garage. It was built in 1974 and is currently on the market.

Highlights

The home is zoned to Katy ISD and sits close to shopping, restaurants, and everyday stops most people need during the week. Inside you will find central heating and cooling along with a fireplace. The exterior is brick and vinyl, and the home sits on a typical subdivision lot.

What Buyers Will Love

The biggest draw here is the price and the potential. The home is being sold as is and could use a little TLC, but it is move-in ready. That gives a buyer a chance to update things over time and make it their own while building value along the way.

HOUSTON GETTING NEW H&H BAGEL SHOP

🥯 A well-known New York bagel shop is making plans to open in Houston. H&H Bagels has filed paperwork for a new location in River Oaks Village on Westheimer, which would be the company’s first shop in Texas.

The brand has been serving New York-style bagels since 1972 and has built a strong following over the years. If the project moves forward as planned, construction could start in May with the shop expected to be finished later this summer.

HOUSTON COMPANY WANTS TO MINE THE MOON FOR ENERGY

🚀 A Houston company is thinking big. Black Moon Energy wants to study the moon for helium-3, a rare material that could help power future nuclear fusion. The team believes fusion power may arrive within the next decade, and they want to be ready.

The company is raising money for a mission that would send a rover to gather data on the moon’s surface. If the numbers look promising, the long-term goal would be mining the material and bringing it back to Earth.
