HOUSTON’S NEWS
NORTH HOUSTON GETS RENTAL HOMES WITH A BACKYARD FEEL
🏡 A new rental community in Cypress is giving people a different way to live. Cypress Manor offers 44 duplex-style homes with three bedrooms, 2.5 baths, tall ceilings, smart home features, chef-style kitchens, and private backyards.
What makes it stand out is the neighborhood feel. The community includes walking paths, outdoor fitness stations, a pet challenge course, a Zen garden, and access to the Cypress Creek Trail. It reflects a growing trend in Texas, where more renters want extra space, privacy, and flexible living without buying a home.
SIX METEORITES FOUND IN NORTH HOUSTON SINCE SATURDAY
🌟 A space rock broke apart over Texas on Saturday, and now NASA says at least six meteorites have been found in the north Houston area. Five were found in Collins Park in Spring, and another crashed through a house in north Houston.
NASA says more could still be out there near Collins Park and neighborhoods north of Cypresswood Drive. People are being told to check lawns, roofs, pools, and other spots for black rocks with a light gray inside.
PAID TSA AGENTS COULD BRING RELIEF TO BUSH AIRPORT
👮 Long security lines at Bush Intercontinental may soon get a little better. President Donald Trump ordered TSA agents to be paid during the government shutdown, a move that could help ease staffing shortages at Houston’s airport.
Bush has faced some of the worst TSA call-out rates in the country, with wait times topping three hours. Airport leaders say the strain has been hard on both travelers and workers, and this order could bring needed relief.
HOUSTON BUSINESS NEWS
MASSIVE NEW COMMUNITY OPENS SOUTH OF HOUSTON
🏗️ A huge new neighborhood is starting to take shape in Fort Bend County. Austin Point, a 4,700-acre master-planned community near Richmond, has opened its first phase and could one day have about 50,000 residents. Developers say it may take 30 years to fully build out.
The project points to major growth south of Houston, with new homes, future retail, a planned elementary school, and road expansions all expected to shape the area. For now, Austin Point gives an early look at where Fort Bend County may be headed next.
HOUSTON LEADS AUSTIN AND DALLAS IN NEW BUSINESSES
📈 Houston is still a strong place to start something new. More than 60,000 business entities were created in the city in 2025, putting Houston ahead of Austin and Dallas. It was also a 4.1 percent jump from the year before.
The bigger picture is strong too. Texas set a new record with 449,838 new business formations in 2025, ranking third in the nation. For local readers, it is one more sign that Houston remains a major place for growth, opportunity, and fresh ideas.
HOUSTON SPORTS NEWS
WNBA IS COMING BACK TO HOUSTON IN 2027
🏀 Houston may soon welcome back a team many fans still remember. The Connecticut Sun have reportedly reached a deal to sell the team to Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta, with plans to move to Houston in 2027 and bring back the Comets name.
The move still needs league approval, and the team will play one more season in Connecticut first. But for Houston, this could mark the return of a franchise that once won the WNBA’s first four championships and helped shape the league’s early history.
HOUSTON DYNAMO ACADEMY HIRES NEW GENERAL MANAGER
⚽ Houston Dynamo FC has named Bryan Scales the new general manager of the Dynamo Academy. He will oversee the academy’s MLS NEXT teams, online school, homestay program, player identification, and college placement.
Scales brings more than 30 years of soccer leadership experience from Charlotte FC, the New England Revolution, U.S. Soccer, and Cornell. The Dynamo say his hiring is part of their push to grow local talent and help more Houston players reach the highest levels of the game.
